Field Inspection System

The Concept

The Field Inspection System creates a common working environment for every inspection type your utility requires. Some of the major criteria for this system include:

  • a simple and familiar user interface to perform inspections,
  • a common toolset to create inspection modules,
  • modular systems (new inspection types such as Joint Use or Damage Assessment can be easily added to the system as they are developed) that may be viewed independently or in a complete summary. Inspection modules may be purchased independently according to your needs.

The Product

The Field Inspection System itself should not be viewed as a stand-alone product but as an actual system. Purchasing the Inspection System provides you with the Distribution Inspection module and enables you to purchase further modules in the future, according to your utility's needs.

Additionally, if you are interested in custom development using tools available in the Inspection System, you may purchase the SDK (Software Development Kit). The SDK provides direct communication and support from Partner's developers and is best suited for companies that have a programmer or "power-user" on staff.

Features

The Field Inspection System runs on the Partner Platform 4.4, which provides the standard Map Viewing for all of Partner's products. When you interact with any of the available inspection modules, you will be working in a consistent viewing environment. In fact, if you already have Partner 4.4 products such as Field Design or Map Viewing, you can run the Inspection System in conjunction with those products.

Inspection Overview

  • View all available inspections in your service area
  • View specific inspections individually
  • Filter inspections by number, by type, and by color-coded priority or severity
  • Customized viewing
  • Instantly zoom to areas of interest

Examples of Basic Controls

In the example below, you can see a large overview of an electric utility's service area. The magnifying glasses on the map are displaying a reference to the total number of inspections and the highest priority (or severity) inspection that exists in that area.

  • Green indicates "OK".
  • Yellow indicates "Needs Attention".
  • Red indicates "Needs Immediate Attention".

The data window is displaying the inspection module (in this case, Distribution Inspection) and the number and priority of those inspection types in that area.

By clicking a "Zoom to Next Level" Action or by manually zooming, you can filter down further to view our inspections in more detail. You are still viewing Distribution Inspections, but the search is refined to a smaller area. The number of inspections and their severity now correlates to the selected area.

By zooming to the next level again, you can now see that you're down to the "working level" of the map. You have a good visual overview of where the inspections are and what their severity is. In this example, you have a Red (Needs Immediate Attention) Distribution Inspection selected, and now you can view all of the data associated with that individual inspection.

Remember! This user interface will provide an overview of your inspections by type. You may choose to view a summary of all inspection modules installed or you may choose to simply view one inspection type. To view specific information on the current modules that are in the field, go to Distribution Inspection or Light Audit Inspection.
